About Us: 21st Century Skills Department

Welcome to the Dover Public Schools' 21st Century Skills Department. Under the guidance of our experienced educators, we are dedicated to preparing students for success across various fields and vocations, using a hands-on approach to learning that embraces the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

Our Mission Our mission is to provide a dynamic learning environment that fosters essential skills for the 21st century. We offer a diverse range of courses, including Robotics, Computer Programming, Marketing, Foods and Nutrition, Child Care, Business Law, Final Cut Pro Video Development, and Personal Finance. Our goal is to develop students' critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for successful futures in college, careers, and as citizens in a global community.

Our Goals

  • Equip students with practical skills through diverse industrial experiences, nurturing lifelong learning across various vocations.
  • Provide a comprehensive education in 21st Century Skills, enabling students to explore and pursue their interests in STEM and business-related fields.
  • Prepare students for the real world with courses like Personal Finance, utilizing materials from Next Generation Personal Finance that cover everything from Behavioral Economics to Consumer Skills.

Recent Successes and Projects

  • The Dover High School Robotics Team has achieved notable success, placing 19th at the Mount Olive High School regional competition and winning the Imagery Award at the Montgomery High School event.
  • Our Final Cut Pro students won first place at the 38th Annual NJECC Statewide Educational Technology Conference for their documentary on "The Era of A.I."
  • Through a partnership with the Home Depot Foundation, we are excited to announce the upcoming renovation of our Foods and Nutrition Classroom.
  • New courses and initiatives have been launched, including an AP Computer Science Principles course, supported by a significant grant.

Noteworthy Contributions and Partnerships

  • We offer Advanced Placement courses in Computer Science, equipping students with high-level computing skills.
  • Our teachers bring real-world industry experience into the classroom. Notable faculty include Mr. Michael Clear, an Apple Distinguished Educator with multiple certifications in Final Cut Pro and Mr. Raymond Snyder, who has a rich background in business and has taught at several universities.
